His Little Guy

“The great sin of the world is not that the human race has failed to work for God so as to increase his glory but that we have failed to delight in God so as to reflect his glory.” - Piper

In worship today I was definitely thinking a lot about this, and just the extreme goodness of God toward me, and why He is so good to me, and, well, more on that later maybe..

I am most satisfied when He is most glorified.

Thailand

Hello world! We’ve had an incredible time in the Philippines, and are now in Thailand at Home of the Open Heart. Soon we’ll be going to the boarder with Laos and Myanmar and then on to Chiang Mai to encourage the Lahu (a hilltribe) church in the region.
Thank you Jesus! Be glorified!

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

This is Alvin. He’s from the tribe we’ll be giving medical care to in these next two weeks. He’s two years old, and came here one year ago severely malnourished.

And what’s your ultimate goal in this life? Are you going for it with all you and Him have? And are you okay? Don’t let yourself get stretched too thin. When you hurt yourself you make Jesus cry. How can you bring Him the most glory? Love Him well, which may mean loving yourself well. Serious.
No living in fear, but live in His eyes of fire for you.
No living in fear.

YWAM Foundational Value 16: Rely on Relationship-Based Support

YWAM is called to a relationship-based support system, depending upon God and His people for financial provision, both corporately and individually. We believe that relationship-based support promotes responsibility, accountability, communications, and mutual prayer. It involves the donor as a partner in ministry. As God and others have been generous toward us, so we desire to be generous. YWAMers give themselves, their time, and talents to God through the Mission with expectation of Remuneration.

This is why, as a staff, I do not receive a paycheck from a Mr. YWAM.
We each pay just what it costs to live, and I imagine that keeps it at the lowest cost anyway, so there is no overhead administration costs, and no one is here because they want it easy. It is much easier to receive a paycheck, but here, not even the president gets one of those. Which would lead us onward in the Foundational Values to ones such as 11. Exhibit Servant Leadership, and 12. Do First, Then Teach.

I know it doesn’t make much sense to many, as it is so flipside from how the world works, but this is what YWAM has been called to, and if you ask leaders in the faith, that have been in it for 40+ years, it seems it works pretty well here in the upside-down kingdom.
*Sidenote: By pretty well, I don’t mean easy-peasy, but that the Lord seems to always provide us with food (though it may not be our favourite food), clothes (not always a full suitcase), and a roof over our heads (be it thatched or shingled).

He’s pretty cool.

Thank you to all who have joined through prayer or finances. I ask that He blesses you all the more!

Hey! If you like this guy, imagine him barely able to see what his kids look like because he can’t get a hold of a simple pair of glasses.Good news: We’ll be there in 3 weeks to give his people the glasses they need.BUT only if: We get $200 to buy some more glasses! Could you pitch in $5? $10? Yes yes yes! Let’s go!

I imagine when Jesus comes back, it’ll be kinda like this. His bright lights (us) on the ground in the city, and Him coming on the clouds. The colours kind of match, just like we will, except one is SO much bigger and brighter!

Authenticity has beautiful tension like the rose with its thorns.

I believe we need to be authentic with people, community, humans who have decided together that it’s far worth it to fight through the dirt and tears to be real with each other and themselves and be brave to share their stories and listen to the stories of the others.

Outreach! and life update…and stuffff :)

Hello! Here’s the copy for those of you who don’t do e-mail so well ;D

It’s been a while, quite a while I feel since I last e-mailed you, and I apologize for that. I felt that every time I thought of writing this letter, I would think, “I’ll just wait until I find out about this one thing so I can let them know!” but more things keep coming up all the time, so here I am, just writing you in the midst of it.

The Lord has been doing such cool things with so many of the students, and with the staff too, of course! We are somewhere around 7 weeks in, and you can just see how the faces of some have changed. Some, who came in without much hope or confidence at all, are now walking differently, laughing easier, and just smiling more! That being said, there is still so much to be learnt in the next 5 weeks! I would appreciate any and all prayer on behalf of my girls especially, as I can help counsel and guide, but ultimately it’s the Lord who they need to hear from, and the Lord who needs to heal them, and just speak to them. Everyone is so different from one another, which is beautiful, but can be quite challenging. We have ten different nations represented: Denmark, Switzerland, Norway, Poland, Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, and Germany, which makes for such a rich culture to learn from.

As for me, I am learning so much about how leadership really just comes down to function. I am definitely no more or less important or valuable than any other team member, I just serve the function as leader of the Compassion School. My staff member, Stefanie, is an incredible woman of God, with her husband Mark, and 3-year-old son Josh. She has taught me so much through her humble heart just to come to me every day just saying, “Hey, how can I best serve you? Can we pray together? And you come over to dinner a few times to get to know our family?” There is no question she has had more outreach experience than me, and more life experience in general, but she so humbles me by humbling herself to best serve her function. I thank the Lord for her all the time!

Outreach! Outreach locations and teams have been decided, and Stefanie and I just settled the “final” budget after dinner at her house tonight. Her whole family will be going, along with my 5 girls from Compassion, and 2 students from the Devoted School. In 5 weeks we will be heading out to the Philippines to work with the Ruel Foundation  http://www.ruelfoundation.com/ , which gives children life-changing surgery to children who otherwise couldn’t afford it, and also takes in orphans, or abused, or malnourished children. I will be there for only 1 week before I lead half of the team to join a team of 15 working with MercyLink  http://marinereachministries.com/?page_id=52 doing 2 medical clinics over the course of 10 days on the southern part of the island. There will be a dental clinic part, primary health care clinic part, and I will be leading our team in running the eye clinic part. Then we will re-unite with the other half of our team at the Ruel Foundation, and fly to Bangkok, Thailand  http://www.ywamthai.org/  shortly after. We don’t have full confirmation of which ministries we’ll be working with in Thailand yet (which was one of my hesitations in sending this), but we know we will be spending most of our time up north near the Burmese border working with refugees. Then back to New Zealand for a week of debriefing and graduating the school! So in summary, a few weeks in the Philippines, then a few weeks in Thailand, with our heart mainly for orphans and refugees.

Thank you so much for standing with me in this. I know many of you are praying for me, and I want to encourage you that it changes things. He gives me strength day by day. Ah, Jesus is so beautiful. If you’ve got more questions, feel free to ask me!

Bless you, bless you, bless you,
Cadi
